Freedom on your Skin
In our previous post, we shared the reasons behind the visual transformation of Wild Wind. This time, we want to explore our new designs and the place they truly come from.
For Wild Wind to survive, we knew we had to rethink the core concept that supported the brand. That meant leaving behind the idea of the “Spirit Animal” and asking ourselves a harder question: what genuinely moves us, and what could we build around for many years to come?
We spent over a month thinking about it. We explored wild ideas, funny ones, interesting concepts — but none of them felt right. The only certainty we shared was that we wanted to keep going. Creating designs and testing our skills in the commercial world was something that genuinely made us happy. What we hadn’t figured out yet was what deserved that energy.
Until one random afternoon, when things clicked the way they usually do — by accident.
I opened Instagram and the algorithm showed me a random post from an account I didn’t even follow. It was a photo of a fresh tattoo on a girl’s arm. I sat up, took a screenshot, and sent it to my partner without saying a word. The tattoo
“That’s it,” he replied.
That was all it took.
I got my first tattoo at sixteen: an oriental-style dragon intertwined with clouds, running along the side of my left leg. I still remember needing written permission from my parents to get it done. Since then, I’ve added several more. My partner has too. We both understand that tattoos aren’t just art — they’re deeply personal stories. They’re reminders of who we were, who we are, and who we’re becoming over the course of a lifetime.
We’ve always been especially drawn to American Traditional Tattoo art and the legacy of Sailor Jerry. There’s something raw and honest about it. Bold lines, timeless symbols, designs made to last. To us, it captures the true essence of tattooing as a form of expression — unapologetic, direct, and free.
That’s where Wild Wind found its new direction.
We believe tattoos and apparel share the same soul. Both become part of your daily journey. A tattoo marks your skin forever; a piece of clothing becomes a second skin — one you choose every day to express who you are and how you face the world.
Our designs are not meant to imitate tattoos, but to carry their spirit. To feel like something you’d wear the same way you’d choose a tattoo: consciously, instinctively, for yourself — not for trends.
Today, Wild Wind is our tribute to that artistic expression, offering a new way to experience it through apparel inspired by freedom, movement, and the raw language of tattoo culture.
Because from a very young age — since we were sixteen — we’ve known this to be true: Freedom is something you carry on your skin.
Oh, and what was the tattoo on the girl’s arm? Just a sparrow in a steep dive, riding the wild wind.
